Week 6-
This week has been full of studies and getting ready to say goodbyes. My district came at the same time the Alpine German missionaries came and now they left. Its just the Greeks here in the MTC and the new sister we got. So, 11 people total at the MTC. Its so strange...but, I know all the missionaries that left will do amazing work out there! I cant believe I'm on week 6! This week our district learned the 1st vision by heart. That was hard, but so fun! Most of us can say it withing 20-30seconds. Haha!
Anyway, this sunday we had the amazing opportunity of meeting one of the mission presidents that served in Greece. They spoke Greek with us. It was soo cool! They told us all about it and what to prepare for! I'm so excited! We were also told who are trainers are for the field, but we weren't told who was going to go with who. But, its still exciting to know and hear about it. So, My companion and I were asked to be the New Sister Training Leaders up until we leave. And to be honest I love it!! I love being a sister training leader! I get to meet the new sisters, plan activities, go to meetings and help all of the sisters! Tomorrow, we will get our new batch of Alpine German missionaries and England south. My companion and I were also told that there was a sister staying here for an extra two weeks. And that we were going to be her companions. She's so awesome! I love having her apart of our companionship! She's from Madagascar!
This week our lessons have been improving, and I've started to talk more! I really like planning lessons with my companion. Its so fun to really help and see what our investigators needs are!
I have been reading a lot in the "Our Search For Happiness" book. Its so good! Its about Elder M. Russell Ballard who talks about the gospel and how it started. He also talks about personal experiences that relate to the gospel! One of the scriptures in it is Helaman 5:12. That scripture is soo good! This week Sister Lehmann and I finished Ether together and uhhhh its sooo good! All I can say is just read it!! Read the Book of Mormon! Its such a good book!! Its my favorite book of all time!
So, today we are going to the city to go bowling, go to asda, and have some fun! We are all so excited! Since we are here for 9 weeks we get to go!! So excited, but not as excited to go to Greece and tell people about the gospel and how much it will bless their lives and bring families together! I think thats the greatest gift of all, is bringing people closer to Christ! I know how much I value my relationship with Him! I know we can all have Him as our best friend!
I love this work!
Have a great week!!
Love you all!

Week 5 τρια ευδουμαδες υπολοιπες!

Hello Everyone!!

3 more weeks to go until I'm in Greece! These past few weeks have been flying by like crazy!!
This week we did a lot of grammar!! My teachers are really pushing us hard! I have to say this week was a bit hard on me--Greek wise...but, I still feel like I can push harder! This week we decided to change a few things in our lessons. We wanted the investigator to really feel the spirit. So, we sang to the investigator a hymn in Greek. I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out...but, it turned out we harmonized really well and it made the investigator tear up. It was an amazing experience! My companion and I were later asked to sing for one of the devotionals. This week we were asked to memorize the 1st vision by next Monday. We've been studying for that every break we get! hah!
We are also called the hardest district! ha! Why? Because we have quizzes and a lot of reviews! We are also speaking Greek all the time! My teachers are very good with making sure we get what we need done! But, I have to say I love it!!  If anyone wants to take on a challenge I recommend learning Greek:) ha! Its so fun! And once you know Greek, learning other languages is easier!
This week I have also been playing a lot of basketball during my sport time. A little too much:) I jammed two of my fingers...hahah but, I'm good! They are fine!
Tomorrow we are going to Manchester to go finding again! My companion and I are really excited to go out and serve! I hope you all enjoy this week! I I love being here! I learn so much!

Love you all so much!

Week 4
Υασασ! Τη Κανετε??

How are you all doing?:)

This week I had the amazing opportunity to go finding in Manchester! At first I was completely terrified but, once I got started talking to people! I really loved going around telling people about the Gospel!! It was so fun! My first 20 attempts didn't go as well....but, I didn't mind. As long as I keept trying, I felt good:) My goal was to give a Book of Mormon to out, but no one would take one. Most people would look at our badges for a good 2minutes and ask us who we were and then once we told them, they would walk away or say some pretty nasty things or make it clear they have a religion. It was definitely an interesting experience! My companion and I even met a lady that was interested, but her husband told her she couldn't meet with us. He yelled at us the entire time telling us we didn't have anything for her. She took a pamphlet with our website and info...so thats good:)
Another person we talked to was a guy that was Muslim and he had a lot of questions for us. He really liked our responses. His questions were definitely not easy, but we did our best to answer them. On our way back to the MTC I really wanted to fulfill my goal and give out a Book of Mormon. On the train I met a young man named, Dan. He's about my age or a year older and he came and sat by me and smiled. He was looking at my badge and I told him it was Greek. He smiled again and asked me if I was a missionary and I told him I was, with an even bigger smile. Thats when the conversation boomed! He had a ton of questions. But what was amazing was that he has been looking for a religion for years. He has been investigating and looking, but hasn't been able to find one. And he knew a few things about the church, but he wanted to know more! AAHHHH! It was just sooooo amazing!! I asked him if he had read or heard of the Book of Mormon. He told me he had heard it, but never found a copy of it. That's when I pulled out a copy of the Book of Mormon and gave it to him!! He was so happy! I testified of it and told him if he read it he would come to love it as much as I do! He said he was so excited to read it and know more. It was a great day!! I know the Lord really puts us where we are supposed to be!

This week I was also able to go on a church history tour. We took a bus and drove around Preston seeing where the first missionaries were. We also went to places were President Hinckley served. It was such a cool experience!!

Love you all!! Keep me posted!

YASAS!  Week 3-Monica MTC
Hey Everyone!!

This week went by so fast!! This week we were given a lot of investigators to teach! So, my companion and I made a goal to stop using notes and flashcards during our lessons. We would just learn it all before hand and teach by the spirit.(To be completely honest I was terrified!) But we tried it the first day and it worked so well!! The spirit was so amazing in that lesson! It was all from the heart and we both loved it! My companion hugged me so tight after that lesson! The next day we wanted to do the same thing but, the lesson was on prayer and it turns out-- it was a harder lesson to memorize...:) But I did it! One thing you need to know is that Greek words can mean several different meanings depending on the accent...so, if you mess up the accent on the word it will mean something else. So, we went into our next lesson and I said my phrase that I was so proud of and smiled. The investigator started laughing so hard and waving his arms indicating baptism and I hadnt said anything on baptism...well, not that i knew of....it turns out i said, `I know the Lord can baptize you. He has baptized me a lot!` (hahahh!). I put the accent at the wrong place. I was trying to say help instead of baptize. It was funny! A few of the elders have made that mistake too but they´ve being mixing up the word marriage instead. We are all trying to learn as many words as we can!

Conference this week was so good!!! It was such a different experience here in the MTC! All of the talks were just what I needed:) It made the week so much better!! I really liked the talk by Neil F. Mariott. Her talk was about how `It will all work out`. It was just so reassuring to me that `everything will work out!` I love hearing what the apostles have to say! Its always soo good!! I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did!

I just wanted to share a scripture that as a district we`ve been thinking about and pondering over this week. Its D&C 24^8. Its good! It really helps me know were I stand with my Heavenly father! We are not alone! He watches over us and knows are struggles! I know that not everything is going to be easy but, as I continue on with faith there will be blessing to come! And I know thats true!! Heavenly father loves all of us!! Coming here to the MTC learning greek has not been easy, but each and everyday I`ve come to love it more and more:) And I feel closer to Him now than I ever did before!! Pray to Him!! He really does listen and answer prayers! I love this gospel so much! What a blessing it is to be apart of this marvelous work!

I love you all so much!! Take care and Have a fantastic week:)

Love,

Tomorrow we are taking the train to Manchester to go finding:)

Week 2 Monica MTC
TETARTI
Hey Everyone,

This week has gone by so fast!! More Greek and more investigators. Right now I have 5 investigators that I have been teaching! The spirit is so strong when we teach them. Its so amazing to be able to feel that spirit. I cant believe that its already been two weeks. Since I'm here for 9 weeks I will be seeing a lot of missionaries come and go. Recently a bunch of missionaries just left.  Its so fun and crazy!! My district is so awesome! We love learning new things together. Its so fun! One thing we like to do together is play Greek hangman or walk to the temple quizzing each other on words/ phrases. So FUN!  It really does help with learning the language. Being here has been such an eye opener! My favorite thing is reading the scriptures!! I love reading the Book of Mormon...I've realized how much truth and guidance it can really bring! Really! I would encourage anyone who hasn't read it recently to do so! It is such an amazing testimony of Christ! Reading it now i'm looking through it like its a new world. Its something so fascinating! This week has been full of TRC's...which are recorded lessons. And those are not as fun but, I know they are good for me.
Today I went to Asda to see if I needed anything. Walking in I felt so strange...like I haven't gone to a store before. Hahah. As we went in I noticed an old man looking at my name tag, he was reading out my name. It was kinda cute...haha. He later came up and asked a few questions about the church. At that moment I felt like an actual missionary. It felt so good to just share something! I cant really explain the feeling...but I'm so grateful for the opportunity I have to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and bring people unto Him! This is an amazing work!! I love this gospel!
And cant wait to share more!!:)
Love you all!
Have a great week!
Love,

Monica has entered the Preston, England Missionary Training Center for 9 weeks before she goes to Greece for 1.5 years.  Here is her first letter...

KALA
HEY Everyone!

So, this first week has been a major humbling experience for me! The first day i got an amazing companion. Her name is Sister Lehmann and she's German. Im in a group of four sisters in my district. We are all sharing a room. I love all of them. They are so amazing. Im the youngest Sister here. There are 10 people in my district. We are the biggest district here. We only have 45 missionaries here in the MTC. Crazy small MTC! The food here is good. The elders here really eat 2 plate fulls of food. We started language learning on friday. We were told right after our first lesson of learning the language that we would have to teach an investigator on saturday in Greek. Immediately we all panicked..wondering if a day of learning the language would be possible to teach someone. Saturday came and I was so worried about the investigator so I asked my companion if we could pray before we go to teach. She agreed and we quickly prayed and went to go teach. I can honestly say that when we pray to our Heavenly Father He listens. I know that through Him anything and everything is possible. I understood everything that was being said from the investigator. It was an experience i wont ever forget. Rely on the Lord and He will take care of the rest!
On Saturday it was also my birthday. Everyone sang to me and my MTC president even requested the chef make a cake since I'm the youngest sister missionary here. It was so fun!!
Sunday I was asked to give the prayer--which meant i had to give it in Greek. No one had been asked yet to give a prayer from our greek district...so, i was sooooo nervous. I hadnt given a prayer in greek before. I gave the prayer and i cant explain how I had the words but I was able to say everything in Greek. It was such a humbling experience for me!! I had only studied greek for two days. I can honestly say the gift of tongues is real. In D&C 29:33 It talks about the gift of tongues. And how through Heavenly Father it is possible. Love that scripture. I also Love Alma 32:21 Where it talks about faith. I've really been focusing on faith this week that I can do this. And i know now that i can!!:) Greek is hard!! It really doesnt come easy. But everyday i can see an improvement:) I really LOVE this gospel! I know its true!!
I love all of you!!
You are all in my prayers!
